Fine Rug Services
Certified Oriental rug appraisals. Our oriental rug appraiser has been certified by the Oriental Rug Retailers of America.

Oriental Rug Cleaning
Our rug cleaning is done in our state of the art plant. All rugs are washed front and back, rinsed very thoroughly, and hung up to dry in our climate controlled dry room. All fringes are cleaned by hand after the rugs are dried. Special Cleaning Services include de-mothing, hand cleaning, deodorizing, Scotchgarding® and a bacteriacide. We also specialize in providing a variety of replacement padding for all types and sizes of rugs.

Rug Repairs
Braided Rugs:
Over time, many braided rugs begin to separate due to age and stress on the thread which holds the braids together. Paulsons has expert craftsman that can make your braided rug stronger than new.
Hooked Rugs:
Hooked rugs can "unzip" when threads are pulled, causing a similar effect to a run in a stocking. Paulsons can re-hook these areas that are damaged carefully matching the yarn to the original.

Oriental Rug Repairs
Re-fringing:
Many oriental rugs over time have worn fringes. Fringes are a very important part of the rugs for it protects the body of the rug from sliding off the end of the warp threads. If this problem is ignored , serious damage to the end borders may occur.  At Paulsons, we specialize in both hand re-fringing and machine re-fringing. Extra care is given to each rug to match, as closely as possible, the original fringe. For those who may not want to add a fringe, overcasting the ends with our invisible stitch is highly recommended to protect the rug.
Overcasting:
If you've noticed threads coming loose on the ends of your Oriental rug, It's probably time for overcastting. This invisible stitch can do wonders to keep rugs in good shape for years. It also helps to preserve original end borders to maintain the value of your rug.
Serging:
When oriental rugs are finished being woven, a protective serging is wrapped on the sides of the rug. Over time this serging can wear or separate from the sides. Our expert weaver can re-wrap the sides by hand or by machine, restoring this protection to the sides of your rug.
Patching:
Have you ever seen flower pot damage which has caused a hole in a nice rug? Well don't despair. Many times we can find a patch from our extensive collection of oriental rug fragments that will make the rug whole again. Patching is a good alternative to expensive reweaving.
Karastan:
Paulsons has the original Karastan fringes and serging thread. Any repairs needed to Karastan rugs can be completed with factory provided materials making your Karastan like new.

Pet Problems
Many rugs have accidents occur on them.  When urine is first absorbed it's acidic.  If you get to the accident right away, the best thing to do is blot with an absorbent material.  Do Not Rub!  Once you have blotted, then rinse with a white vinegar and water solution and blot dry.  We specialize in pet and odor problems in both wall-to-wall and area rugs.

Moth Problems
Oriental rugs present an ideal breeding ground for wool-eating moth larvae. These problem insects can be avoided if certain precautions are taken.

Make sure that your rug is exposed to light and air if possible.  Moths tend to migrate  to dark areas such as underneath skirted sofas and heavy furniture. It is there they lay their eggs and undergo numerous life cycles that enable the larvae
to devour the wool.

Try to move furniture once a month and vacuum these areas, paying close attention to the underneath area of your wool rug. If you see flying moths, then it is time to have your rugs cleaned and moth treated.

If damage has already been done, repairs such as reweaving or latexing may be necessary. Don't let this problem go on because extensive damage may also be done to clothing and other fabrics in the house.
